Why I Run
From Get Running Diva to Global Run Day
One of my favorite things about ALO has always been this: movement isn’t just something we market, it’s genuinely who we are. But not superficially, like actually part of our DNA.
You feel it the second you walk into our Beverly Hills HQ. Someone’s coming from a Pilates class. Someone else squeezed in an EMS session before their first meeting. There’s usually a matcha in hand, ALO sneakers in the other, and an ongoing conversation about who’s doing what new workout after work. Movement lives here. And as the Vice President of Brand Marketing, I think that’s what makes the brand feel real.
For me, that movement is running.
And trust me, I was not always “a runner.” In fact, I distinctly remember thinking running was something only professional athletes or ultra-marathoners did. Me? I don’t sweat, I glisten.
What started as a way to clear my head during the first weeks of the pandemic has now become something I genuinely need. A ritual. A reset. A moving meditation.
Because somewhere between putting on my full running getup (if the shorts aren’t short they don’t count) and my feet hitting the pavement to the exact beat of a song (come on Up! by Shania Twain), everything quiets down. The noise, the stress, the deadlines, the self-imposed pressure, and the fact that I absolutely need to return my mother’s phone call. Running has this way of bringing me back to myself.
When I moved to Beverly Hills from New York City, I needed a personal goal. Something to work towards and to be held accountable for. So, I signed up for a half-marathon. It felt scary. It felt out of reach. But every single run left me feeling better than when I started and more confident, I could cross that finish line feeling good.
And isn’t that the beautiful thing about running? Yes, it’s deeply, deeply personal, you against yourself. But it’s somehow also very communal. You run alone—just you, the pavement, and the finish line ahead, yet you still feel intimately connected to each person going through the exact same experience next to you.
That’s why we’re celebrating Global Running Day at ALO.
Join a run, take a wellness walk, or even hike a trail with us. We’ve always got something going on in your backyard (find an event near you). It’s the seasoned runner moving next to the first timer. It’s the person running to be social next to someone running just for themselves. Some people will come for the miles. Others will come for the post-run coffee and morning gab. Both are equally valid.
Because at the end of the day, it’s not really about pace or distance or whether you consider yourself “a runner.” It’s about showing up. For yourself. For your community. For that feeling afterward when your mind is clearer, your energy shifts, and the world feels just a little lighter.
That’s the magic of movement.
And honestly? There’s nothing more ALO than that.

Ever since I started running at age of 25, I always feel so full filled after a running-session.
It's so beneficial.
